The grand mosaic works of the Palatine Chapel are being made public through this exhibition. This exhibition, titled 'Mosaic – The Italian Code of Timeless Art,' was brought to Hanoi by Magister Art Company with the sponsorship of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Embassy in Hanoi.

This exhibition is set to begin a tour across Asia, with Hanoi being the first city visited.

A Treasury of Light and Beauty

Visitors were able to admire some of Italy's most famous and iconic mosaic paintings. Such excellent and precious artworks gathered together in a cutting-edge digital exhibition space provide a visually stunning experience.

The exhibition, structured around six themes, unfolds with Italy's most famous and symbolic mosaic works captivating the audience's gaze.

The first is the colorful mosaic mural depicting ships and a lighthouse, housed in the Capitoline Museums in Rome. This is considered one of the most exquisite mosaic works from the Imperial era, accidentally discovered during large-scale excavations at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century when Rome became the capital of Italy.

Regarded as one of the oldest and most important surviving mosaics, this grand mosaic was discovered at the site of what was once the Basilica of Saints Cosmas and Damian.

The painting commemorates the Parousia, the appearance of Christ at the end of time to establish the Kingdom of God.

Next is the wondrous and colorful mosaic covering the floor of the Basilica of Aquileia in Aquileia, Italy. This mosaic is believed to have been created in the 4th century and was discovered by archaeologists in the early 20th century.

Consider also the grand geometric mosaics of the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia in Ravenna, Italy, an area of 760 square meters, considered a treasury of light and beauty.

Mosaic works depicting historical and religious stories from the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia are on display at the exhibition.

Ancient Egyptian Girls in Bikinis

This also includes mosaics from the Palatine Chapel in Palermo, Italy.

Particularly noteworthy is a mosaic depicting girls in bikinis performing gymnastics in an ancient Egyptian stadium.

And these mosaic fragments remain at the archaeological site of Baiae in Bacoli, Italy.

These are new mosaics discovered underwater in the 1960s. Baiae, a popular residential area around the beginning of the Common Era, was a resort favored by Roman nobility until the end of the 3rd century AD due to its mild climate, beautiful scenery, and abundant hot springs.

Surprisingly, a mosaic was even found depicting girls in bikinis performing in an ancient Egyptian stadium.

But since then, traces of this place, at least on land, have not survived at all. Due to the slow phenomenon of bradyseism, the coastline has become the seabed.

It feels as if we are about to confront a great secret of history, a glorious civilization of the past.

This exhibition is viewable from now until April 7th, every Tuesday through Sunday.
