Panasonic Housing Solutions to Significantly Renew Interior Building Materials Series

Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Panasonic Housing Solutions to Significantly Ren”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

Panasonic Housing Solutions will significantly renew its interior building materials series "Veritis" for the first time in four years, with orders starting from April 1, 2026.

The renewal strengthens proposals to make spaces feel more spacious, responding to the increase in compact housing.

Against the backdrop of rising construction material costs and increasing housing loan interest rates, the average floor area of new homes is trending downward. According to a survey by the Japan Federation of Housing Organizations, among those who contracted with member homebuilders in the three major metropolitan areas and regional urban areas during fiscal year 2023, approximately 80% felt pressure on their financial plans. Influenced by high prices and material costs, over 50% of respondents said they reduced their home's floor area. Meanwhile, a Panasonic survey found that over 40% of people seek "living room spaciousness" when purchasing or renovating a home, indicating that many desire a "space that feels spacious."

Against this market backdrop, the company is undertaking a major renewal of its "Veritis" interior building materials series. With a new concept of "Making spaces feel more spacious and easier to choose," and referencing advice from Professor Hideki Sakai of the Graduate School of Human Life Science at Osaka Metropolitan University, the company has incorporated two fundamental approaches as spatial presentation techniques directly linked to comfortable living: "Brightening" and "Connecting sightlines." This enables proposals for designs and building materials that create a sense of visual expansiveness beyond the physical area.

For "Brightening," the color and pattern system has been reviewed, and a new color variation centered on high-brightness whites and greige has been developed. Within the greige series, two new patterns, "Greige Oak" and "Lapis Gray," have been added. By offering diverse choices within the basic colors, selecting colors that bring a sense of openness to the space has been made easier. Furthermore, a "Large Light-Admitting Door" has been added to the lineup, improving the light-admitting area by approximately 40% compared to conventional models to allow more natural light to reach the interior depths. The specifications and compatible colors for "Interior Windows" have also been expanded, making them easier to propose for various floor plans and home styles.

For "Connecting sightlines," the UH2400 high door, which was previously a custom order, has been standardized. By extending the opening to the ceiling, sightlines can pass through to the back, connecting with adjacent rooms and creating a sense of openness. Additionally, measures such as starting to offer two-sided frame compatibility in the Standard Label (popular-priced design) series have made adoption easier from a cost perspective.
