The La Roda City Council will hold a new edition of the 'Roots and Craft Traditions' Tourism Days next Sunday, April 26. The event will take place at the Posada del Sol and the Municipal Auditorium and aims to highlight the richness of the local craft heritage, with special attention to pottery and ceramics as hallmarks of the municipality's identity.

The initiative was presented by the Councilor for Tourism, María Ángeles García, together with municipal technician Esther Collado, in an event that also included representatives from the local craft sector, such as ceramist Luis Cebrián, as well as other professionals linked to this field.

During the presentation, María Ángeles García emphasized the importance of continuing to promote initiatives that "strengthen local identity and the municipality's tourist appeal."

“From the Tourism Department, we will continue working so that La Roda is not just a place to pass through, but a place to stay, to discover our heritage, and to live authentic experiences. These days are a unique opportunity to connect with our roots and to feel pride in who we are, in this case, through the hands of our artisans.”

For his part, ceramist Luis Cebrián highlighted the municipal involvement in organizing this initiative, stating, "The deference the City Council has shown us is to be appreciated, because La Roda is a great town, with great companies, and pottery is a fundamental pillar of the culture and traditions of the town."

He also highlighted the participatory nature of the event, explaining that "it's a different way to spend Sunday, to get closer to a trade that, although it is being lost, is very beautiful and allows you to enjoy the creative process, teaching people how a piece is made from beginning to end."

Finally, municipal technician Esther Collado encouraged citizens to participate in this proposal, noting, "We invite everyone to enjoy a special day with something very much our own, which we often don't see or think is being lost, but which remains alive thanks to the work of artisans, some of them with several generations dedicated to this trade."

These days will bring together different local producers such as Artesanía Cebrián, Francisco Fernández García, and Ciao Ceramics in a showcase that will allow residents and visitors to learn firsthand about the work of La Roda's artisans, tracing through their creations the past, present, and future of an activity deeply rooted in the municipality's cultural identity.

During the event, various workshops will be held where the public can approach the creative process, experiment with traditional and contemporary ceramic and pottery techniques, and take part in the creation of pieces.

Furthermore, an exhibition of craft pieces loaned by the participants themselves will be installed and will remain open in the weeks following at the Posada del Sol. To close the cultural program, the Municipal Auditorium will host an afternoon theatrical performance of 'Don Quixote' by the group Tumbalobos, with free admission via prior ticket collection.
