Originally from Limoges, the sculptor presents her exhibition "Côté Céramique" from April 27 to May 3. The artist unveils a universe where porcelain and stoneware blend with glass, wood, or sand, in a constant dialogue with the material.

Sculptor and ceramist Valérie Rousset Blondy exhibits from April 27 to May 3 at the Maggy-Martel space. Originally from Limoges, the artist shares her heart, she says, "between the city dedicated to the art of porcelain and Charente-Maritime, my source of inspiration. I love ceramics of yesterday and today. Accompanying my parents in their passion for treasure hunting has undoubtedly developed in me a very special relationship with objects."

Eloquent about her art, she states: "I love its aesthetics, as well as its life journey, its fabrication, its function, its history—all these things that give me many emotions and that I try to transcribe into my pieces. I like to mix with clay (porcelain or stoneware) other materials like glass, wood, sand, the plant or mineral world; I impose no limit on my imagination, but the material sometimes does, so I adapt to it." She also admits to repurposing old objects so they bring their history to contemporary creation.

Hands in the Clay

"As a young person, I was sensitized to porcelain and stoneware by my family. My story and my life led me one day to plunge my hands into the clay. Encouraged by my loved ones, my friends, my encounters, I found the joyful energy that pushes one forward. Influenced by nature, material, sky, the teeming life around us, my eyes then decided to accompany my hands."

Valérie Rousset Blondy creates and generously shares her art. She enjoys showcasing her work and exchanging with visitors during her exhibitions. "Humanity has a big place in my life, and making beautiful encounters fills me with happiness. Creation and the relationship with others fulfill me and make my life more beautiful," she concludes.
