Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Exclusive Interview with Laminam Sales Director “, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
Laminam's commitment to innovation in sintered stone textures, surface finishes, and artistic technology has positioned the brand as a leader in the industry. At the Home Journal Top 50 Cocktail Soirée, we sat down with Matteo Messori, Laminam's Sales Director for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, to discuss their newly launched IN-SIDE series, the company's contributions to environmental sustainability, and new products unveiled at this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan.
1. How does Laminam maintain its leading position in the sintered stone industry?
Laminam invests in cutting-edge technology, pioneering surface and texture effects, and continuously drives the development of the sintered stone industry. These innovations are widely applicable across various fields of architecture and interior design.
The IN-SIDE series represents our most significant industrial and technological leap in the past five years, as we have successfully integrated the base tile and finish seamlessly, creating a groundbreaking product for the industry. Although all Laminam products are full-body sintered stone with surfaces printed at 400 DPI, the IN-SIDE series elevates quality to an unprecedented level, giving the material a tactile feel similar to natural stone.
Whether producing thin or large-format sintered stone, we always prioritize environmental consciousness. We adopt an innovative approach to reduce raw material and energy consumption during manufacturing, minimize pollution, and improve transportation efficiency. Recently, we installed solar panels to boost productivity; using solar panels reduces gas consumption by up to 30% in the manufacturing process, and with dual-layer kilns, production capacity has doubled. Additionally, we use a water recycling system that repurposes water from cleaning for the wet grinding process. Since 2019, we have incorporated 30% to 60% recycled materials into all our products, prioritizing circular economy and industrial processes to minimize waste. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of waste and creating a sustainable future for people.
At this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan, we launched the latest Diamond series, featuring Calacatta Black and Cristallo Gold, which mimic two types of natural stone.
More importantly, we introduced not just one, but two surface finishes, making us a proud industry pioneer. The first finish, named Caress, derives its name from its smooth and warm texture, imitating the polished surface of natural stone. This finish retains the product's practical functions, such as water resistance, antibacterial properties, acid resistance, and bacterial resistance. The second finish, Polished Starlit, uses a special formula with quartz powder to create a novel lighting experience.
2. Can you tell me more about the IN-SIDE series and its impact on the industry?
Last year, we expanded our product categories with the Laterre series. The Laterre (Le Terre) series offers three warm, captivating, and architectural colors. Each color comes in three subtle variations—beige, tobacco brown, and charcoal black. These unique shades are inspired by Italy's most distinctive regions: the historic site of Matera, the archaeological site of Pompeii, and the Saturnia hot springs in Tuscany.
IN-SIDE Series
3. How does the IN-SIDE series integrate new technology to create unique features?
We mix various natural particles during the grinding process. Laminam uses only natural materials in its manufacturing process, without chemical additives. We carefully select specific clays and skillfully combine different particles to achieve the appearance of natural rock surfaces or genuine stone.
4. How does Laminam plan to produce ceramic tile products in the future to stay at the forefront of environmental sustainability?
