An old refinery transformed into a 100% green site. That was the grand announcement made by TotalEnergies at the end of 2020 for its Grandpuits plant (Seine-et-Marne). The group halted refining and created new "zero petroleum" activities, including France's very first chemical plastic recycling plant. This was meant to improve the image of the French fossil energy champion, which is also a major producer of plastic—a material whose waste causes catastrophic pollution of land and oceans and damages human health.
