Stone (marble/stone), one of the flooring materials often applied in hotels and referred to as 'luxury interior', is recently gaining attention as a major trend in personal residential spaces.
According to the flooring industry on the 9th, the domestic residential flooring market size is approximately 600 billion won annually. Until a few years ago, wood (wooden floor) designs were highly preferred, but recently, demand for stone-design flooring that reflects natural stone patterns like marble is spreading. There has been a sharp increase in demand to upgrade spaces to a more luxurious version by applying stone patterns like marble or tile, rather than safe wood designs.
The domestic flooring industry is also focusing on capturing this demand by introducing stone-design flooring products that highlight the texture of natural stone while offering reasonable price points and enhanced durability.
LX Hausys is targeting the market with its 'LX Z:IN Flooring Edition Stone'. 'Edition Stone' is a product with a design that implements a surface texture similar to natural stone. The company explained that sales of this product in the first quarter of this year increased by about 80% compared to the same period last year.
The main feature of 'Edition Stone' is that it applies a stone design while simultaneously securing durability. It incorporates the high-strength material 'Natural Stone Core' (a board compressed under high temperature and pressure from natural stone powder and polymer resin) developed in-house by LX Hausys. Another factor is its eco-friendliness, having obtained the 'Environmental Label Certification' certified by the Ministry of Environment.
A domestic flooring industry official explained, "Just five years ago, the preference for stone designs in the domestic sheet flooring market was only around 10%. However, recently, the preference for stone designs has risen to around 50%, showing a significant increase in the proportion of stone-design flooring."
The official added, "With the interior demand base growing this year, demand for flooring that implements the feel of materials like stone is forecast to increase further."
