[Spain Mallorca Pal] MZ Event ‘Raumträume – from Idea to Finished Home’: This is the Program

Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “MZ Event ‘Raumträume – from Idea to Finished Hom”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

The desire for one's own home in Mallorca often begins with a clear vision: more light, open spaces, natural materials. But as soon as implementation begins, questions quickly arise – and not infrequently, unexpected challenges too. With "Raumträume Mallorca," the MZ invites you to a practical information evening that starts right here. The goal is to provide orientation and offer concrete insights into the most important steps of a renovation on the island.

Especially on the island, different expectations and realities collide: international clients, local building culture, and complex approval processes. This makes it all the more important to make the right decisions early on and to be accompanied. The event not only offers orientation but also a better understanding of processes, responsibilities, and typical interfaces in the construction process.

Expert Panel

At the center is an expert panel that brings together various perspectives. Participants include building expert and project manager Oliver Girharz (Matrol), interior designer Max Menck (Quadratmeta), real estate law specialist lawyer Sonja Willner, and Bernat Nadal Alemany, dean of the Architects' Association of the Balearic Islands. The discussion will revolve around the following questions: What does it mean in practice to implement a renovation or refurbishment project in Mallorca? Where do the most common problems arise – and how can they be avoided?

“Vertrag kommt von Vertragen” (A contract comes from agreeing), says Girharz. Especially for larger projects, it is crucial to make clear agreements and not rely on supposedly straightforward handshake deals. Too often, disputes arise later over costs, execution, or quality.

Sonja Willner also advocates for an early look at potential risks and recommends, "thinking about the renovation already when purchasing." Anyone who does not thoroughly check the condition of a property risks not only technical but also legal problems.

In addition to such insights, the evening will cover fundamental topics: How do I plan a renovation realistically – in terms of budget and time? Which permits are required? How do I find reliable partners? And how do I achieve an implementation that is convincing both functionally and aesthetically?

Following the discussion round, there will be an opportunity over wine and tapas to ask questions, make contacts, and concretize first steps for your own projects. "Raumträume Mallorca" is aimed at German-speaking property owners who are planning a renovation or are already in the middle of the process – and offers a compact opportunity to get well-informed and inspired.

The event will take place on Tuesday (April 14, 6 p.m.) at the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos (C/. de la Portella, 14) in Palma. Places are limited, and there is only a waiting list left. If interested, you can send us a message at [email protected].
