A tenant in the Vienne department had a major scare this week. The floor of her shower cabin collapsed into the stairwell.

Some people have nightmares about being naked in public. Then there's Marie-Cécile, a tenant in an apartment in Poitiers (Vienne), who was taking a shower on Tuesday when the floor of the cabin began to sag, reports La Nouvelle République.

The cabin eventually collapsed into the stairwell, four meters below.

“On Tuesday, the shower suddenly sank five centimeters while I was in it. I got out quickly. I alerted the fire department. They told me it was at risk of collapsing, and they notified the town hall. The owner came to wipe away all traces of mold with a rag, and then, on Thursday morning, everything collapsed when a company came. They told me it was due to water infiltration,” said Marie-Cécile.

The kitchen ceiling is also threatening to collapse.

The apartment owner, for his part, expressed surprise:

“When we did the initial inspection, there were no problems. She didn’t tell me anything afterward; I didn’t receive any letters from her. Afterward, I took immediate action and a company came.”
