Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Geberit: Trusted Innovation, Now in the Toilet I”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

The origins of the toilet date back 4,000 years, to the first known latrines in the royal palace of Knossos in Crete. However, we had to wait until 1775 for the first patented toilet. It was registered by the Englishman Alexander Cummings and was based on an invention by Sir John Harington, who, at the court of Queen Elizabeth I of England in the late 16th century, created the first contemporary toilet with a water-flushing system.

Since the mid-20th century, the toilet has undergone numerous innovations, especially in the system for introducing flush water into the bowl. We have progressed from high-level cisterns to "backpack" tanks, to the current concealed cisterns. But is there still room for innovation in the toilet bowl itself?

According to Geberit, a specialist in sanitary porcelain and bathroom technology, the evolution of the toilet's interior is not only possible but is already here, marking a before and after in bathroom design and hygiene.

Indeed, in recent years and as a result of its investment in R&D&i, Geberit has achieved revolutionary toilets that create an innovative bathroom, are very easy to clean, and optimize the flush flow with significant water savings and a reduction in cleaning tasks and cleaning products.

TURBOFLUSH, RIMFREE AND QUICKRELEASE

Behind the terms Rimfree, TurboFlush, and QuickRelease are the innovations that Geberit has incorporated into its toilets in recent years. These are three technological novelties that are here to stay and have become a 'must' for achieving more hygienic, functional, and sustainable bathrooms.

TurboFlush . This is the quietest and most efficient water-flushing technology on the market for the toilet bowl. In this innovative system, the interior of the toilet bowl has an asymmetrical geometry with a lateral water outlet. This way, with each flush, the water flows easily with greater cleaning effectiveness as it circulates in a spiral, covering the entire interior surface of the WC. The result is a unique washing performance, much more effective than a normal flush, and it is also much quieter and more efficient. So, we can start forgetting about using the toilet brush. The innovative TurboFlush technology is available in the Geberit ONE series, Geberit Acanto, and in the AquaClean bidet toilet range.

Rimfree® Toilets . A pioneering design that ensures the flush, with a single water outlet, is directed throughout the interior of the toilet. This guarantees perfect cleaning of the toilet bowl after each use and with less water. By eliminating the traditional interior rim, hard-to-reach corners disappear and dirt does not accumulate. Thus, cleaning the toilet becomes much simpler and more comfortable. Rimfree® toilets exist in all Geberit bathroom series.

QuickRelease . This innovative system of special hinges allows the toilet lid and seat to be easily removed by pulling them effortlessly with one hand. In this way, the porcelain WC bowl becomes much easier and faster to clean. The lid and seat are also easier to clean, as they are not attached to the toilet. This special QuickRelease fastening system is available as an option on toilets in all Geberit bathroom series.
