Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Preventing Terrace Slabs from Shifting: AquaDrai”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
Terraces are often laid loosely on gravel or chippings. This is economical and quick to implement – but especially with lightweight 2-cm ceramic slabs, it brings a well-known problem: the slabs can wobble, shift, or slip. With the AquaDrain FS fixing system, Gutjahr permanently stabilizes such constructions. Together with the now optimized DiProtec FIX-MSP installation adhesive, it becomes an unbeatable team. Particularly lightweight ceramic elements tend to wobble and shift when laid in a gravel or chipping bed. AquaDrain FS mechanically stabilizes such constructions: the covering is fixed at the joint cross with the DiProtec FIX-MSP installation adhesive onto the fixing plate and precisely aligned with the IndorTec FN-XT leveling system.
“The fixing plate connects the slabs at the joint cross and anchors itself in the subsoil. This ensures the slabs lie firmly – horizontally and vertically,” says Gutjahr product manager Thomas Römer.
"This creates a significantly calmer surface – even under intensive use, and even 2 cm thin ceramic slabs can be safely laid loosely," explains Römer. A further advantage: due to the stabilization, closed joints with the special MorTec SOFT joint filler are also possible.
New Color, New Packaging
Gutjahr has also specifically further developed the DiProtec FIX-MSP installation adhesive. The most noticeable change: the adhesive is now black instead of gray. This makes the adhesive practically invisible in open or heavily reduced joints – an important advantage for modern ceramic coverings with open joints.

“With the black coloration, we have consistently solved this issue,” says Thomas Römer.
Nothing changes about the long-proven formulation: DiProtec FIX-MSP remains solvent-free, strongly adhesive, stress-compensating, and versatile in use. Furthermore, Gutjahr has also optimized the packaging. The 310-ml cartridge now consists of recycled material and has a new look. Additionally, DiProtec FIX-MSP is now available as a 580-ml sausage pack – ideal for larger areas.
“Especially together with the AquaDrain FS system, large quantities of the adhesive are consumed. The craftspeople therefore wished for a larger packaging unit,” says Römer. “The sausage pack saves time, material costs, and a lot of waste on the construction site and offers a price advantage compared to the 310-ml cartridge.”
