“koraDryFloor”: New System for Dry Installation of Large-Format Floor Tiles

Tile manufacturer Korzilius presented its new "koraDryFloor" system for the dry installation of large-format floor tiles at BAU. It was developed specifically for renovation projects in the commercial sector, where time and financial costs, as well as disruptions from noise or dirt, need to be minimized.

Among others, fashion shops, retail chains, offices, care facilities, and restaurants can benefit from the possibility of installing a new tiled floor without first chiseling away the old covering and without adhesive bonding to the substrate.

The special feature of a "koraDryFloor" tile is the approximately two-millimeter-thick cork layer on its underside, which overhangs the edges by 1.5 mm. With this layer, the tile is intended to suction itself tightly to the floor, laid edge-to-edge without tile spacers. Only the ceramic surface is grouted—using grout based on dispersion or epoxy resin.

The cork layer also provides acoustic and mechanical decoupling of the tiles from the substrate. Impact sound is dampened, making the floor more pleasant to walk on. The "koraDryFloor" system also reduces the transfer of stresses from the substrate, thereby preventing crack formation.

Quick and Clean – During Installation and Removal

"koraDryFloor" proves to be as quick and clean during removal as it is during installation: the tiles are removed by simply lifting them, without damaging the substrate or the ceramic covering. Before reuse, only the residual grout on the sides of the tiles needs to be scraped off with a sharp knife.
