The Iran war has lasted for more than a month. Due to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, multiple Asian countries are facing an oil shortage crisis. South Korean media reported on March 30 that after the United States eased sanctions on Russia, South Korean companies successfully imported Russian naphtha.

27,000 Tons of Russian Naphtha Arrive in South Korea

South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated that after the United States temporarily eased sanctions on Russian crude oil and naphtha, a private South Korean company successfully imported Russian naphtha. The South Korean side confirmed that 27,000 tons of Russian naphtha arrived locally on March 30.

The ministry also said it is working with the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure additional supplies.

The South Korean Economic Daily reported that there are local views that it is difficult to achieve large-scale imports of Russian crude oil and naphtha, stating, "It seems our companies will need some time to smoothly import oil from Russia."

South Korea relies on imports for 45% of its naphtha, with 77% of that coming from the Middle East. Since the outbreak of the Iran war, South Korea has completely banned naphtha exports from March 27 to alleviate the domestic naphtha supply shortage.
