Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “La Gangosa Commercial Area Advances Municipal Ac”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

The works being carried out by the Vícar City Council to improve accessibility on Avenida del Guadalquivir in La Gangosa are progressing at a good pace.

As Vícar Mayor Antonio Bonilla pointed out, "We maintain our commitment to making this space a place that all citizens can access with complete freedom," especially considering it is one of the main commercial areas of this nucleus, one of the most populated in the municipality.

The works will focus especially on the rehabilitation of the sidewalk and roadway on the stretch of Avenida Guadalquivir between numbers 2 and 30, one of the neighborhood's busiest streets. These works will improve the pedestrian accessibility of the street, adapting it to current regulations while simultaneously eliminating existing architectural barriers. Furthermore, the project began with the demolition of tiles and curbs as well as the asphalt pavement of the roadway. This demolition was carried out partially manually to avoid possible breaks in the utility services in use. The works are also being used to renew the pre-existing supply network. Following this first phase, milling of the asphalt pavement and the placement of anti-slip tiles on the edges of pedestrian crossings is proceeding. For its part, the street lighting is also being replaced with functional road or urban environmental type luminaires. Finally, the project includes the installation of stainless steel litter bins, truncated cone bollards, and bicycle parking. The total set of works has a total budget of 155,001 euros.

Mercado de Abastos

The Government Subdelegate in Almería, José María Martín Fernández, accompanied by Vícar Mayor Antonio Bonilla, recently made a technical visit to the improvement works to check the status of the project currently underway at the Mercado de Abastos (provisions market). This project is part of the aid for 'Sustainable Urban Markets' projects from the State Secretariat for Commerce, with an allocation of 1,258,486 euros.

For its part, the comprehensive project includes 12 actions involving investments in different categories aimed at improving the accessibility and innovation of Vícar's businesses. Furthermore, the works, which began last November, include the comprehensive rehabilitation, modernization, and adaptation of the Puebla de Vícar Mercado de Abastos to current regulations, with the goal of revitalizing local commerce.

Project

Vícar Mayor Antonio Bonilla stated that "the comprehensive reform of the building will allow us to offer a better service to both merchants and consumers, addressing their needs and adapting them to new consumption trends, within our objective of energizing local commerce to make it more attractive, competitive, and accessible for residents."

Regarding the works, which are now in their final phase, they are configuring the new Municipal Market, maintaining a central plaza inside around which the 14 existing stalls will be arranged. Furthermore, the main entrance will offer a wide view of the interior of the premises, inviting passersby to enter. In the northwest corner, the bar-cafeteria will be located, which will connect directly with Calle de Las Artes y las Letras, which will be made pedestrian to create a joint space between the Municipal Market and the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Vícar. For its part, public toilets, staff services, storage rooms, and garbage rooms are located in the southern area of this 600-square-meter surface.
