Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Artist Carlos Martínez Wins Diputación’s Cerámic”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
The Diputación Provincial de Castellón has awarded the prize for quality and creativity to 'Topología del crecimiento' in the IX Cerámica en Crudo Competition. The work by Carlos Martínez, a contemporary visual artist and sculptor, was the winner of this competition, which year after year demonstrates 'the immense talent we have in the artistic and ceramic field,' highlighted Vicente Pallarés, deputy for Ceramic Promotion, who participated in the award ceremony and showed the Provincial Government's commitment to 'creativity and innovation in artistic ceramics.'
Vicente Pallarés congratulated the winner of this edition and praised his ability to imagine and create a proposal of 'great technical rigor and formal coherence.' 'Carlos Martínez has surprised us with a clean, balanced sculpture of impeccable execution, where the conjunction of design, concept, and technique reaches a high level of excellence.' In this regard, the deputy for Ceramic Promotion noted that this competition, promoted by the Diputación de Castellón with the aim of supporting ceramic projects in the province, 'merges art with ceramics, in addition to supporting all visual artists and the dissemination of their work.'
Through Cerámica en Crudo, 'we can see true works of art using one of our emblems, ceramics,' emphasized Vicente Pallarés, while also showing the Diputación's support for 'one of the most important productive sectors that is part of the DNA of our province.' 'From the Diputación de Castellón, we believe in, support, and firmly bet on the ceramic industry,' the provincial deputy insisted. Evidence of this is the increase in the prize's financial endowment, which this year rose to 4,000 euros, representing an increase of 1,000 euros compared to previous editions, thus reinforcing 'the institution's commitment to promoting talent in the ceramic sector,' he noted.
The Winning Work
The jury of the IX edition of the Cerámica en Crudo Competition recognized the originality, artistic value, message, and presentation of 'Topología del crecimiento.' The work is built from a triangular module repeated at different scales, whose arrangement generates an expansive and orderly rhythm, with pyramidal cavities that enrich the play of light and shadow on the white surface. This modular approach clearly conveys the idea of growth and structural development to which its title alludes.
Its outstanding technical execution is highlighted, demonstrating precise control of geometry, thickness uniformity, and material shrinkage during firing. Although its message relies more on geometric abstraction than emotional expressiveness, the formal quality, conceptual coherence, and visual power of the whole place 'Topología del crecimiento' as one of the most outstanding works of the competition, an example of technical mastery, conceptual clarity, and artistic maturity.
