Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Spanish Group Altadia to Supply New Plant of Vie”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
The Castellón-based group Altadia, formed by the companies Esmalglass-Itaca, Fritta, Vetriceramici, and Younexa, has been chosen by the Vietnamese conglomerate Viglacera (a pioneer in its country in the production of ceramic tiles and coverings) as its strategic partner for its new plant on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a recent report by the specialized publication Ceramic World Review, the Vila-real-based group will be the main supplier of glazes, frits, and colorants for the new factory of the Asian firm, which specializes in large porcelain slabs, a material not very common in that part of the world.
Currently, Viglacera is finalizing the construction of the plant on the southern periphery of Ho Chi Minh City, which will become the eighth ceramic tile factory of the historic Vietnamese group.
Sacmi Supplies the Machinery
Another well-known name from the Castellón ceramic cluster, the Italian group Sacmi, is also involved in the project, supplying the machinery for the manufacture of the tiles and large-format ceramic slabs. Specifically, Viglacera has chosen the Continua+ technology for applications on floors, walls, and kitchen countertops and as a decorative complement.
According to the CWR publication, with this state-of-the-art plant, Viglacera aims to strengthen its leadership position in the high-end porcelain stoneware market, which is why it has chosen the companies of the Altadia Group as strategic suppliers to support the development and production of new collections.
Altadia Factories in Asia
Among the factors that have led to the signing of this important agreement for both parties, Viglacera highlights the experience, quality, and innovation of the three Castellón-based and Italian glaze and color producers, as well as the international presence of the Altadia Group in 19 countries, with production centers not only in Spain and Italy but also in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.
With 47 years of history, Viglacera Corporation is the largest building materials producer in Vietnam, with a product portfolio ranging from ceramic tiles to glass, sanitary ware, and bricks. Now, with the start-up of the new plant, it will also produce large-format porcelain slabs, a completely new type of product for the Vietnamese market. Viglacera operates in 40 countries with around 300 offices and distribution centers and has a workforce of approximately 9,000 employees worldwide.
