Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Sidewalk Renewal Work Begins on Vascongadas Aven”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
The Getafe City Council begins the sidewalk renewal work on Vascongadas Avenue today, Monday, August 21. This action is part of the Sidewalk Plan, which is improving the city's sidewalks.
With this project, the pavement of the sidewalks will be renewed, replacing it with anti-slip tiles to improve pedestrian accessibility, and architectural barriers will also be removed.
The works will last approximately 3 months and will not affect traffic. Parking will be affected depending on the progress of the work, which will be signposted. Access for residents to their homes will be provided, ensuring their safety, and access and road safety for families heading to school centers will be guaranteed.
Sidewalk Plan
Over the past year, the Getafe City Council has improved the sidewalks of about thirty streets through the Sidewalk Plan. In this way, residents will enjoy better accessibility after removing architectural barriers and level differences, adapting them to pedestrian crossing accessibility standards, and unifying sidewalks with those of other streets, or reorganizing parking where required to facilitate maneuvers and, in some cases, prevent exhaust pipes from being too close to homes and gases from entering them.
“We continue working to improve the city, making it more accessible and comfortable for use by residents, especially for people with mobility issues, wheelchairs, or baby strollers,” explained the Councilor for Maintenance, Maite Mellado.
Following this street, works will proceed on Leganés Street and Plaza del Canto Redondo. And within this same plan, the following streets have already been renewed: Islas Canarias in the Sector III neighborhood; in the Centro neighborhood, the streets Hospital de San José, Madrid, Valdemorillo, and Manzana. In the El Bercial neighborhood, Avenida del Parque. In Getafe Norte, Gaudí Street. In the Juan de la Cierva neighborhood, Travesía de Andalucía and the streets Granada, Murcia, and Albacete.
In the Las Margaritas neighborhood, work has been done on Begonia, Camelias, Geranio, Lilas, Lirios, and Nardos streets, and improvements have already been completed on Clavel and Pensamiento streets. In La Alhóndiga, the sidewalks on Águila, Alondra, Cisne, Jilguero, Oca, Pato, Perdiz, and Tórtola streets have been improved. And in the Kelvinator area, the streets Alcalde Ángel Arroyo and Joan Font.
