Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Casa Decor 2026: The Spaces and Proposals You Ca”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

Textiles and upholstery from Iris Ceramica Group by Raúl Martins Estudio and Nuet Ceramics by Mayice, along with the reuse of furniture and textiles, create an enveloping atmosphere. Wood, stone, and prominent textiles establish a setting where furniture provides a balance between tradition and contemporaneity. The project aligns with trends favoring warm textiles, which, together with sustainable textiles and metals, create an enveloping and relaxing atmosphere. Sustainability is materialized through elements like marbles, recycled wood, or high-end textiles.

The 'Legado Artesano Castilla-La Mancha' space was created by interior designer Ricardo de la Torre.

Watching the first edition of the talent show 'DecoMasters' led us to two conclusions: one malicious and one concerning. The malicious one led us to think that, more than a decoration contest, we were watching a gossip show, rich in pre-arranged exclusives and juicy confessions from the contestants; that, and that their greatest talent consisted of painting walls and sticking pretty papers—much like in 'Hasta el fin del mundo' (TVE) where the crux was knowing how to board a bus.

The concerning conclusion—more for the CEO of Shine Iberia, Macarena Rey, than for us—is that the best interior designers in the country (and a couple of frauds) paraded through the contest, which condemns a hypothetical second season, if there is one, to a boring parade of supporting actors.

However, after taking possession of Casa Decor 2026 yesterday—an especially 'boutique' edition, rich in good ideas and full of new talent—we could, and do, affirm that Macarena Rey will indeed save her new talent; provided they increase her budget, because some houses and things seen were downright embarrassing.

Casa Decor 2026 opens its doors to the public today in the heart of Madrid's Barrio de las Letras with record figures that consolidate its role as the great showcase of interior design in Spain. The 61st edition brings together 240 companies and professionals, including official brands, architecture studios, interior designers, artists, and artisans, who have shaped 47 spaces where over a thousand products and materials are exhibited.

The event also reflects an increasing balance between local and international: 54% of participating companies are Spanish versus 46% of foreign origin, from countries like Italy, France, the United Kingdom, or Sweden. This international growth confirms Casa Decor's appeal as a gateway to the Iberian market. Within the national landscape, territorial representation is also diverse, with the presence of 12 autonomous communities. Valencia leads participation with 31%, followed by Madrid (25%), Castilla-La Mancha (12%), and Catalonia (10%).

The event, installed in the 19th-century palace that belonged to the Marquis of los Vélez at Calle San Agustín 11, not only shows new trends but acts as a meeting point between creativity, industry, and culture. And then, of course, it especially invites practicing the eternal game of seeing and being seen.

This Casa Decor 2026 outlines a very sensory and material interior design, where volcanic and mineralized colors, textured walls, and clay as a star material predominate. The edition also champions the beauty of exposed construction materials, makes lighting an essential tool for creating atmospheres, and reinforces the prominence of elements like wood and textiles as sources of warmth. To all this is added a decisive commitment to the recycling and transformation of materials, confirming that sustainability is no longer a trend but a non-negotiable foundation of contemporary design.

Restaurant: The Silent Chapel

This restaurant transforms the building's former chapel into a sensory stage under the concept 'The Silent Chapel', a proposal that recovers the original architecture and envelops it in a new contemporary language. The intervention respects historical elements with extreme care, allowing the past to maintain its prominence while current design is incorporated as a precise layer that redefines the space without altering its essence.

The material proposal relies on ceramics with a stone-like appearance, with volumes and planes that dialogue with the monumentality of the chapel. To this is added the warmth of wood and the value of artisanal work, in an immersive atmosphere that connects with trends like the mineral, the tactile, and the sensory experience of space.

Terrace: Ceramic as Architecture

This terrace proposes ceramic as architecture itself under a 'bare' concept. A longitudinal patio articulates the journey through pauses where extruded pieces construct walls, floor, and atmosphere, generating an experience where the material transforms with light until culminating in a framed view of the Madrid skyline.

The project explores the potential of extruded stoneware as an integral construction system, where everything arises from the same material language. To this are added lightweight, reusable aluminum structures, along with latticework and lighting games that modulate light and shadow. The proposal connects with trends like material honesty and demountable architecture, betting on sustainable design where all elements will be reused after the exhibition.

Living Room: Legacy Artisan Castilla-La Mancha by Ricardo de la Torre

This living room is articulated around the concept "Wind Spiral", a proposal that translates the movement of air into a contemporary spatial experience. Through rhythm, matter, and perception, the project evokes the natural flow of the landscape and turns it into a sensory journey that connects.
