Ureshino City in Saga Prefecture is not only known for its tea culture and natural hot springs but also for the historic ceramic craft "Hizen Yoshida ware." The local new-generation brand "224 porcelain" is dedicated to breaking away from traditional molds, interpreting centuries-old techniques with innovative design language, and consistently producing distinctive and ingenious works that create a new look for Hizen Yoshida ware.

Centuries-old Craft Meets Contemporary Language to Create a New Hizen Yoshida Style
With over 400 years of history, Hizen Yoshida ware is renowned for its delicate craftsmanship and warm texture. Founder Tsuji Satoshi was born into a ceramic family; his father is the sixth-generation inheritor of the 160-year-old Yamagama kiln. Caught between tradition and innovation, Tsuji founded 224 porcelain in 2012, attempting to create a contemporary ceramic language without betraying his family's craft.

Adhering to the philosophy of not being bound by the past, 224 porcelain builds on its craft foundation, integrating minimalist lines, serene glazes, and modern functionality to create a distinctive "contemporary Hizen Yoshida style." From vessel design to material use, each piece embodies the concept that "daily life is art," aiming to infuse practical yet elegant details into every scene of life.

Innovative New Material “Seido”: Combining Aesthetics and Sustainability
The "uzra series" featured in this exhibition uses the brand's newly developed clay "Seido," which took a year to develop. "Sei" means brightness and radiance, reflecting the brand's hopes for the future of Japanese ceramics. This material not only offers 1.5 times the strength of traditional porcelain but also reduces carbon emissions during firing by 40% and significantly minimizes defects like black spots and bubbles. Even without glaze, it achieves stain resistance, showcasing the material's pure texture and functionality.

The Gentle Scenery of the Daily Table: The uzra Series Interprets the Poetry of Minimalist Vessels
The exhibition's core product, the "uzra series," was designed by Shin Azumi, who reinterprets daily table scenes with a design language that balances practicality and aesthetics. The series includes oval plates, oval bowls, rice bowls, and mugs, all stackable for easy storage. The matte, unglazed surface feels as soft as an eggshell, and the iron-mixed clay forms natural speckles. Two warm color options can be freely paired, adding a warm yet distinctive atmosphere to the table.

White Porcelain Tea Canister Featuring a high-seal design, the lid fits with a satisfying "hiss" sound upon closing, effectively slowing tea leaf oxidation. The canister uses highly hygroscopic "porous ceramic" to aid moisture resistance, while the outer layer is glazed to prevent moisture ingress. Its simple, pure white design combines practicality and aesthetics.
