Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Hands-On Review of the Notable Model: Wearing th”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
A model equipped with Seiko's Mecha-Quartz, which combines quartz accuracy with the tactile feel of a mechanical chronograph. This time, we introduce a notable two-counter chronograph that adopts this Mecha-Quartz movement.
D1 MILANO Chronograph Restyling
This new chronograph concept adopts a classic two-counter layout while using vibrant colored dials to achieve a modern, playful design. The seamless case design features an octagonal bezel with faceted cuts on all four sides. Combined with a bracelet finished with hairline brushing to accentuate the metal's texture, the watch exudes a sense of luxury beyond its price point. Ref. CHBJ09. Stainless steel (41.5mm size). 5 ATM water resistance. Mecha-Quartz (Seiko Instruments Cal. VK64). 53,900 yen. Prior to general release, pre-sales will begin on Thursday, March 18, via the Time Gear Online Shop.
A Two-Counter Chronograph Combining the Charms of Quartz and Mechanical
"D1 Milano" was born in Milan, Italy, in 2013. It is characterized by a solid design inspired by luxury sports watches of the 1970s, and its collections, which balance accessible pricing with quality, have gained support for their high cost-performance.
The newly released "Chronograph Restyling" is a new concept for the chronograph collection. Based on a best-selling chronograph model, it adopts a two-counter layout not found in existing collections. It inherits a classic style with the two-counter chronograph while achieving modern proportions suitable for daily wear.
Furthermore, the movement this model carries is a notable point. It is equipped with the Seiko Instruments VK64 Mecha-Quartz movement, which realizes a smooth sweep of the chronograph hand, different from the tick-tick motion of typical quartz chronographs. Additionally, when resetting the chronograph measurement via the push-button, the chronograph hand instantly returns to zero like a mechanical watch—a point sure to resonate with watch enthusiasts.

Contrasting Color Use and a Three-Dimensional Dial are Appealing
Three-dimensional parts, such as the sub-dials set one level below the main dial on a metal ring with concentric circular decoration and the multi-faceted cut indexes, create a subtle presence and a sense of luxury beyond the price. Attention to detail is evident in the skeletonized hour and minute hands, designed not to impair legibility and aesthetics, and the chronograph hands with accent colors.
Focus on the Solid, Presence-Commanding Octagonal Case
The bezel is finished with a three-dimensional shape featuring slopes on all four edges, with the sloped sections receiving a polished finish. Combining these two finishes achieves both a solid feel and a sense of luxury. The balance of the appearance is adjusted by gradually reducing the size of the bracelet links from the case towards the clasp. It's also a favorable impression that it's finished with a stylish atmosphere while remaining substantial.
Let’s Check the Wearing Comfort Too!
The size is a suitably presence-commanding 41.5mm. With seamless design models that integrate the case and bracelet, a gap can easily form between the wrist and the joint between the case and bracelet, sometimes resulting in less-than-ideal comfort. However, this model is shaped with an angled taper towards the wrist, enhancing the wearing comfort. The photos show the Ref. CHBJ10 with a green dial being worn.
