[Taiwan Taipei] Building Materials Exhibition Transforms into Immersive Light Bar! Saiens Launches First Home Brand “hos”, Redefining Stone Imagination with “The Journey of a Grain of Sand”

Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Building Materials Exhibition Transforms into Im”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

Who says a building materials exhibition can only display cold samples? After transforming the "Good Space Exhibition" into a vibrant "Park Materials Party" last year, Saiens Industrial Co., Ltd. (Saiens) is once again breaking the mold this year. This exhibition, themed "The Journey of a Grain of Sand (The Journey of Saiens)", uses light as a narrative medium, starting from the microstructure of silicon-based materials to guide visitors into an immersive journey from matter to life, redefining the infinite possibilities of material science in architecture and interior design.

Translucent Stone Constructs a “Light Bar”: A Field Experiment in Material Performance

Continuing the brand's "fun" DNA, Saiens has built a glowing bar right at the exhibition venue this time! This is not just a formal interpretation but a physical experiment in "lighting environment design × material engineering." The bar counter, constructed with translucent stone, displays unique refraction and depth under light control. Visitors can enjoy a drink experience, personally feel the visual changes of building materials under different lighting conditions, and concretely understand the plasticity and atmosphere-creating power of materials in commercial and architectural settings. Saiens’ New Home Decor Brand “hos” Debuts, Transforming Scientific Data into Life Aesthetics

Another highlight of this exhibition is the official debut of Saiens' new home decor lifestyle brand "hos (Home of Saiens)." "hos" translates Saiens' profound scientific data into design language, drawing on the tough character of quartz to introduce the strength, durability, and optical texture of engineered quartz stone into household objects. The brand emphasizes material essence, using light as a core vocabulary to establish a life aesthetics system that integrates structure and craftsmanship, showcasing the delicate appearance of materials extending from architectural shells to daily life.

Visualized Process from Sand to Light: Hot Bending Technique Reveals the “Softness” and “Toughness” of Stone

Breaking the fixed impression that stone is only rigid, Saiens demonstrated on-site the surprising potential of engineered quartz stone under the hot bending technique. Under high temperature, the stone exhibits excellent plasticity, whether for curved surfaces, continuous surface transitions, or free-form lines, all precisely achievable. This technique proves that the material can be widely applied in architectural interior curved walls, cabinet cladding, and special light strip structures, providing designers with more diverse shaping solutions. Cross-Domain Interpretation Centered on “Silicon”: A 7-Meter Island Showcases the Material Lifecycle

The exhibition takes silicon (SiO₂) as the narrative core. As the foundation of glass, chips, and many material systems, silicon is crucial yet often stays behind the scenes. Saiens presents the complete lifecycle of silicon through a 7-meter-long display platform, from natural sand and gravel, crystal formation, artificial formulation, processing technology, to final products and optical performance. This "visualized path" is both educational and serves as a database, depicting the complete journey of materials from nature to industry and then into life. Sustainability Strategy: Collaborating with TDRI and Merida to Promote Cross-Domain Co-Creation of Recycled Materials

On sustainability issues, Saiens proposes the concept of "creative re-manufacturing." The exhibition features multiple works made with recycled material formulations, emphasizing that recycled materials have more room for expression than virgin materials in terms of performance standards, designability, and visual vocabulary. Looking ahead, Saiens announced that it will collaborate with the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) and bicycle giant Merida to advance cross-industry applications of recycled materials, bringing laboratory materials into transportation, architecture, and living spaces, accelerating the commercialization and popularization of sustainable materials.
