Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “In Audierne, Ceramic Boots That Deceive the Eye”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
Since April 17 in Audierne, ceramic artists Guillaume Descoings and Yaël Malignac have been exhibiting their astonishing trompe-l'œil ceramic boots at Atelier Ter on Rue Pasteur. The pieces were created in their studio, Passage Secret, in Limoges.
“Jean-Marc Fondimare and Gérard Réquillard from Atelier Ter invited us during the last Maison & Objet trade show in Paris,” he recounts.
These beautiful porcelain boots, with a matte or glazed finish, are made in one piece using a slip casting technique.
“We create a mold, and this allows us to make objects that are different from thrown or sculpted pieces,” he explains.
A few snails, modeled by hand, have taken their place on some of the boots. In addition to these pieces, there are "splashs" – astonishing frozen projections in porcelain, dressed in bright colors.
