The Castellón Tourism Board continues to promote the city's international projection through its participation in strategic forums linked to culture and tourism. On this occasion, the Tourism Councillor, Arantxa Miralles, traveled to the Italian town of Deruta to participate in the Annual Assembly of the European Ceramics Route, an organization in which Castellón actively participates.
Castellón has been a member of the European Ceramics Route since 2020, and is also the first Spanish city to join this European-recognized cultural itinerary. This meeting brings together representatives from 32 countries with the aim of consolidating a common strategy to promote ceramics as a tourist attraction and reinforce its cultural value.
During the assembly, Miralles presented the Castellón Ceramics Route, highlighting its relevance as a tourist and cultural resource and its capacity to generate experiences linked to local identity.
The councillor emphasized the importance of being part of this international circuit to "position the city as a specialized cultural destination."
In this regard, Miralles stated that "we continue with our commitment to enhance our ceramics and, specifically, to project it beyond our borders. We have participated in this annual assembly where we have explained how we are working to improve the route, what initiatives we are implementing, how we are promoting it, and the visits we are developing to consolidate it as a tourist product."
“This type of meeting allows us to establish synergies with other countries, learn about their ways of working, and analyze what actions they develop to promote ceramics. At the same time, we work together to strengthen this route at a European level and attract tourists interested in discovering this heritage.”
Miralles stressed that "ceramics is a top-level tourist attraction for Castellón, and from the Tourism Board we work constantly to enhance its value and make it a differentiating element within our tourist offer."
Parallel to the assembly, an exhibition was held in which each participating city contributed a representative piece of its ceramic tradition, reinforcing cultural exchange and the international visibility of the different territories.
The representation of Castellón was the work 'Toros' (Bulls) by the artist Nela Sánchez Alonso, winner of the X National Ceramics Prize of the City of Castellón and belonging to the collection of the Castellón de la Plana City Council.
Created in 2010, the piece measures 24 x 44 centimeters and is made using ceramic shaping technique, using stoneware, porcelain, and glaze. The sculpture is composed of two circular pieces with different textures on their faces, combining smooth, spiky, and rough surfaces.
