Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “YKK AP Launches New ‘Doorimo Entrance Sliding Do”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
YKK AP Corporation will begin sales of the revised specification "Doorimo Entrance Sliding Door" from December 7th. With the addition of new designs, a total of 30 designs are now available. This expands the range of easy-to-choose options to match residential designs while maintaining the convenience of entrance sliding doors and improving installability.
In recent years, hinged doors have become the mainstream for entrance openings in newly built detached houses. However, during the period when houses now over 30 years old (entering their renovation phase) were built, sliding doors were adopted at a rate comparable to hinged doors. Consequently, there is a growing demand for replacing entrance sliding doors that have recently reached their renovation age. Against this backdrop, YKK AP launched a "Renovation Entrance Sliding Door" in 2010, and by fiscal year 2019, annual shipments had grown to approximately ten times the level of fiscal year 2010.
For this new "Doorimo Entrance Sliding Door," the frame shape was completely reviewed to improve installability, while also adding designs and expanding the product lineup.
Product Features
Improved Frame Rigidity By adopting a hollow shape for the frame, rigidity was improved by about 10% compared to the conventional frame, and frame twisting was suppressed, significantly increasing strength (vertical frame). This increases the sense of rigidity during installation, making it easier to hang the frame and adjust the fit. Improved spacer insertion also enables smoother installation.

No Pilot Hole Drilling Required for Existing Frames For the screws that fix the new frame to the existing frame, spoon screws are now standard. No pilot hole drilling into the existing frame or structure is required, reducing installation work. It is now also possible to install on existing wooden frames for sliding doors where installation was previously not possible, making it usable regardless of the structure of the existing sliding door. Standard Equipment of Stainless Steel Lower Frame Cover The lower frame of the sliding door is now standardly equipped with a stainless steel lower frame cover, improving aesthetics and cleanability. This helps prevent damage to the lower frame during walking or cleaning. By welding the sliding door rail to the stainless steel cover, the number of fixing screws was reduced from 20 to 10. Consideration was also given to the ease of cleaning sand and dust that tends to accumulate in the lower frame.
*Number of screws is for a 6-shaku (approx. 1.82m) opening width.
Industry's Largest (*1) Lineup of 30 Designs

Three design tastes—"Modern Japanese," "Western Basic," and "Traditional Japanese"—are available, allowing selection from a wide range of 30 designs to match the homeowner's preferences and lifestyle.
*1: According to YKK AP research. The largest number of designs in the industry for renovation entrance sliding doors.
Compatibility with Existing 9-Shaku and 12-Shaku 4-Panel Setups
By newly adding a "4-panel set" configuration to the 11 Traditional Japanese designs, renovation of existing openings with widths of 9-shaku (approx. 2.73m) and 12-shaku (approx. 3.64m) becomes possible.

Furthermore, as a high proportion of entrance sliding doors include a transom (ranma), all designs in the 2-panel set can now be selected with a transom.
Product Overview
*2: Reference price is the standard retail price for components without transom frame. Consumption tax, assembly fee, on-site delivery fee, and installation fee are not included.
*3: Production scope is for the 2-panel sliding door main unit only. Production scope varies depending on frame type and design.
