Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Tegelsonline: A ‘Sustainable Outlet’ in the Ede “, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
From interior tiles to exterior tiles – all tiles are displayed in the two warehouses on Lumièrestraat. Various racks show the tiles so customers can immediately get an idea of what they look like. Outside, right in front of the door, customers find batches full of exterior tiles.
“We really have something for everyone, and that’s incredibly fun.”
The Tegelsonline team is ready for customers every day.
Tegelsonline: ‘Sustainable Outlet’ in the Edese Market
Good tiles for the bathroom or garden don't have to be expensive: Indrawati Blackman-Van de Beek has known this for a long time. Just over a year ago, she took over Tegelsonline from her father and is increasingly putting her own spin on the business. Together with her team, she works day in, day out on the best tiles for the most diverse customers:
“It’s super diverse.”
Anyone stepping into the Tegelsonline warehouse on Lumièrestraat is welcomed into a warm bath: cozy music is playing, tiles are set up everywhere to view, and the staff is meanwhile hard at work preparing orders. Tegelsonline is an outlet tile store.
“Ideal for tile enthusiasts looking for a good deal,” says Van de Beek.
SHARP PRICE
This means that the tiles sold here have a sharp price but are still of good quality.
“A cheap tile hasn’t had to be bad for a long time,” says Indrawati, who has been active in the sector for years herself. In addition to leftover batches, she also sells new batches that can be offered continuously.
“Leftover batches are ideal for someone looking for tiles for a small floor or wall. The big advantage? You always pay a low price. The disadvantage is that you can’t order unlimited extras,” explains the owner. “That’s why, besides leftover batches, we also sell budget batches. They are slightly more expensive, but still much cheaper than at a specialty store. And the advantage? They can be purchased continuously. So even if you are one package short, for example.”
FUN
Van de Beek took over the company from her father at the end of 2022. After a few months of trial runs, she was sure she had found her calling with this.
“Before that, I worked in a company’s internal service department, and that was fun, but I’m just not made to work behind my laptop in an office for eight hours,” she says.
ENTHUSIASTIC
“So when this opportunity came around the corner, I knew very quickly that I wanted to continue with Tegelsonline.” And that despite never having been enthusiastic about tile outlets before. What made her do a 180-degree turn? “The leftover batches we sell here are often taken over from a wholesaler or factory. There might be something wrong with them, like damaged packaging,” Van de Beek explains. “If an outlet doesn’t buy such batches, there’s a good chance they will end up in the trash, and that’s a real shame. They are mostly good tiles. When I realized how much was actually being thrown away, that got me thinking too.”
All kinds of products can be found in the Tegelsonline warehouse.
LESS WASTE
With her tile outlet, she thus also contributes to less waste.
“And because we can keep prices low, we serve a very broad audience,” she explains. “I understand that people who have enough money will go to a tile specialty store first. But you can almost always succeed here too. Precisely because the quality is simply good.”
According to her, people will always keep coming to an outlet.
“Even when the economy is doing poorly. The prices are low, so you can always meet a certain need,” she says.
In the coming period, Van de Beek is working hard to make the warehouses even more inviting for customers.
“Although our assortment is also online, people still like to take a look ‘in real life’. Understandable, of course. That’s why I want to ensure you can admire the offering even better.”
Feel like stopping by right away? Then mark March 23 in your calendar!
“We’re kicking off the garden season then,” says Indrawati. In the spring sale, the full garden assortment will be available, and outlet products will go out the door for rock-bottom prices. “Definitely fun to come take a look!”
