The Unconcealable Grandeur of a Large House: A Three-Story Home in Jung-gu, Incheon

Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “The Unconcealable Grandeur of a Large House: A T”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

This is a large residence located within a housing complex in Incheon. The lot is elongated east-west, with roads bordering it to the north and south. The building is positioned as far north as possible to secure a yard and parking area to the south. The design applies the client's preferred concept, incorporating the layout of the first floor of the Deojon Housing Cheongna Housing Exhibition Hall and the exterior design feel of 'Rapina 2'. The first floor is configured like the Cheongna exhibition hall, with a living room, kitchen, dining area, and master bedroom. The second floor features a porch, a family room, and two bedrooms. The third floor houses a quiet, independent space—a study. Each floor connects to the outdoors via external decks. The exterior adopts a modern box-shaped design using parapets, similar to the Rapina 2 headquarters housing exhibition hall. The interior blends various styles into an eclectic concept, not defined by a single interior style. It applies classic and modern elements to maximize sophistication. Natural colors were used to create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere.

Entrance

The entrance features a long corridor structure. To avoid monotony, large-format porcelain tiles with a stone pattern were used to create a simple, modern space.

1F Living Room

The living room, open to the second floor, offers a sense of expansiveness and cool openness. Large-format tiles further maximize the feeling of space. Design unity between the living room's accent wall and the area behind the sofa enriches what could have been a monotonous space.

1F Kitchen/Dining Area

The main kitchen layout maximizes storage space through a balanced combination of custom cabinetry and ready-made furniture. Teak-toned tambour boards, matching the furniture's tone and manner, create a dignified feel, making the ceiling design stand out.

Considering user convenience, a level change was applied only to the laundry area. Wet areas were finished with tiles, while dry areas used the same flooring and wallpaper as the common areas.

1F Bathroom (1)

Bianco tiles with soft gloss and luxurious marble patterns harmonize with gold-colored faucets and gold-framed partitions, creating an even more sophisticated space.

1F Corridor & Storage

A storage space was created next to the interior door near the entrance. A faux door that appears to be a bookshelf at first glance was custom-made, incorporating bookshelf functionality into a storage door for private use.

1F Bedroom 1

To meet the client's need for a comfortable, warm bedroom feel, a headwall design using vertically patterned tambour boards and warm wood-tone film was applied to create a cozy bedroom space.

The staircase design incorporates three expanded steps to give a sense of openness. Handrails embedded into the wall with indirect lighting allow for safe use even late at night. Walls finished with gray-toned tiles create a modern and luxurious staircase space.

Using warm beige tones as a base, the space was made subtly comfortable overall. Tambour boards were used to minimize monotony. Indirect lighting in the coffered ceiling completes the atmospheric space.
