With the arrival of the 5G era, market demand for processing large PCB panels is set to rise. Tongtai Precision Machinery, a leading domestic PCB equipment manufacturer, has developed two new large-table drilling machines: the ultra-high-speed linear motor CNC drilling machine SDL-6B and the CO2 laser drilling machine TLC-2H26. Both models feature significantly improved positioning speed and processing efficiency, with quality comparable to international giants but at a more competitive price. They made their debut at the 2019 TPCA Show on the 23rd, aiming to secure orders.
Additionally, Tongtai showcased the high-precision multi-axis compensation CNC drilling machine TCDM-6. Its key features include independent X, Y, and Z axis control with a vision system to compensate for panel warping and expansion; CCD auto-focus that adjusts based on panel thickness; and CBD depth compensation for each axis, achieving depth control accuracy of ±0.02mm. It also supports counter-boring for drilling small holes in multi-layer thick panels, fully demonstrating its high precision, high uptime, and easy maintenance. This model is expected to be a highlight at the exhibition, attracting visitors and buyers.
Wang Senmao, Assistant Manager of Tongtai Precision Machinery's Electronic Equipment Division, pointed out that with the arrival of the 5G era, to meet the requirements of large bandwidth and high transmission, telecom operators will build larger base station equipment, driving new demand for large PCB panel processing. This prompted Tongtai to develop two high-end large-table drilling machines. Among them, the ultra-high-speed linear motor CNC drilling machine SDL-6B has a working area expanded to 24.5 inches by 30 inches, specifically designed for large panel processing. Its drive system uses linear motors, achieving X/Y axis speeds of up to 80 m/min and acceleration of 1.2G. The machine features a lightweight dual-worktable design, improving positioning time by 10% and processing efficiency by 15% to 20%. It also includes practical functions such as laser tool detection, real-time broken needle detection, depth control, peck drilling, and fast drilling, offering superior cost performance compared to competitors, making it a dream machine for 5G customers.
Another model, the CO2 laser processing machine TLC-2H26, also features a large 26-inch by 32-inch table. It uses a 350W high-power laser source and a high-speed scanning system to significantly boost production efficiency. Its high peak power laser can directly process copper foil, achieving consistent drilling quality on both blackened and browned panels. It also includes burn-target/read-inner-target functions to address multi-layer board lamination issues, and boasts high-precision processing capabilities with table movement accuracy and high-speed scanning head positioning accuracy below 15 microns. With a professional software team capable of developing various intelligent software functions for customers, its future sales potential is highly promising.
Wang Senmao emphasized that the company's CO2 laser drilling machine TLC-2H22 has entered its third generation, with processing efficiency and accuracy comparable to Japanese counterparts. It has been used in the most advanced 3D IC packaging processes and widely adopted by well-known domestic semiconductor and packaging manufacturers, making it a true pride of Taiwan.
