Editor's Note
This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Qualicer to Address CO2 Utilization in Ceramics”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.
Qualicer will address the capture and utilization of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the ceramic industry at its next edition, to be held on June 10 and 11 at the Auditori i Palau de Congressos in Castelló. The topic will be covered in a presentation led by Elisa Rambaldi, Head of Research and Innovation at the Italcer Group, and Isidoro Giorgio Lesci, Professor, CEO, and founder of IGL Innovation Foundry.

The session will discuss Italcer's prominent project aimed at valorizing CO2 as a raw material for the construction sector, thereby avoiding passing the associated costs onto the ceramic product.

First Installation Within a Year

The project has already moved beyond the laboratory phase, and the first industrial installation is expected to be operational within approximately twelve months. Furthermore, it presents a significant opportunity for large groups with investment capacity and available industrial and logistical land. This technology represents a historic opportunity for CO2 emission reduction at a decisive moment, given the European Union's imminent decision to reduce free emission allowances for the ceramic sector.
