Editor's Note

This editor’s note highlights the key facts and market implications behind “Workers Say Loimar Decided to Close Its Plant”, with emphasis on sourcing, product fit, fabrication, logistics, or buyer impact.

The ceramic workers' union announced through a statement that the company Loimar has decided to permanently close its factory. As a result, there are no longer 10 layoffs or suspensions, but 80 families left without work.

We inform the community of Tandil that the company’s directors, in a unilateral and unconsulted decision, have decided to cease their productive and commercial activity, leaving 80 working families on the street and causing harm to the city’s economic activity. Faced with the insensitivity of the directors, we denounce the unilateral closure of the company and that workers have stopped receiving their salaries.

The workers, with their daily effort over 60 years of activity, made it possible for the Loitegui family to grow into a solvent economic group, with several branches in different activities in Capital Federal, Chapelco (Neuquén), Iguazú Falls, construction companies, and fields. Without a doubt, the sacrifice of the workers and the profits from their brick-making company generated the capital invested in these ventures. Today, without remorse, they close the plant, leaving Tandil families on the street.
