Mussini Award: Talented Young People Are the Lever of the Future
Fiorano: Mattia Biamonte, Giacomo Catellani, and Erika Protopapa have received scholarships for their graduate theses in the ceramic sector.
The 18th edition of the "Prof. Cirillo Mussini" Award was held at the headquarters of the Concorde Group in Spezzano. The initiative, promoted by the Concorde Group – of which Atlas Concorde is a leading entity – honors the memory of the president, a central figure in the Group's history who passed away in 2007. The award involves the assignment of scholarships to recent graduates and master's degree students, particularly from the Engineering and Geosciences departments of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, who have developed research theses within the companies of the Concorde Group. Projects are often focused on ceramic, geological, and sustainability themes, with a strong link between academic training and industrial application.
Present at the ceremony were Luca Mussini, President of Gruppo Concorde S.p.A., Federico Curioni, CEO of the Group, and Cristina Siligardi, Director of the Master's in Ceramic Enterprise and Technology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia – Unimore. The three winners presented their theses, demonstrating high-level academic paths and concrete integration with the production world.
The scholarships were awarded to: Mattia Biamonte, Master's degree in Geosciences, Geohazards and Georesources; Giacomo Catellani, Master's degree in Materials Engineering; and Erika Protopapa, Master's degree in Computer Engineering.
“Nineteen years have passed since the passing of Professor Mussini, but his presence continues to live strongly within the Group and in the family that has taken up his legacy,” emphasized Federico Curioni.
He noted that this approach proves particularly significant in the current global context, marked by geopolitical tensions, energy crises, and rising costs, which are putting pressure on the manufacturing sector and the entire economic system.
“Giving up is not an option,” added Curioni. “The answer lies in talent. Today more than ever, it is necessary to invest in prepared and capable young people. Innovation and scientific research, developed in synergy between companies and universities, are fundamental levers for facing this new scenario.”
On the same line, President Luca Mussini reiterated the strategic value of the initiative:
“It is a testament to the trust that our Group has always placed in young people, enhancing their potential.”
