The event is part of the "Per un salto di classe" (For a Class Leap) project carried out with Legambiente.

Building Energy Efficiency and Innovative Materials: Kyoto Club Event at Ecomondo

An appointment is scheduled from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4th, in the Workshop Area – Hall D3, moderated by greenreport.

The building sector is responsible for 40% of total energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in the EU. "Embodied" emissions – those from construction materials – contribute between 10% and 20% of the total carbon footprint. With the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), the European Union aims for zero-emission buildings by 2050. However, the "Green Homes" directive has not yet been transposed by the Italian government, which is about to miss the first of the deadlines set by Brussels.

By December 31, 2025, Italy must prepare the Building Renovation Plan, the main planning tool for the energy consumption reduction and greenhouse gas emission reduction interventions foreseen by the directive. This is a first but fundamental draft, to be followed by the first definitive Building Renovation Plan (for residential, non-residential, and public buildings) by December 31, 2026.

Although hindered by numerous fake news, the directive's deadlines are stringent in identifying a solid sustainable development path for the Italian construction sector. The opportunity to take stock is on the agenda tomorrow, November 4th, at Ecomondo (Rimini), thanks to the conference "Efficientamento energetico degli edifici e materiali innovativi" (Building Energy Efficiency and Innovative Materials) scheduled from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM in the Workshop Area – Hall D3.

This event falls within the scope of the "Per un salto di classe" project, launched by Kyoto Club and Legambiente to support the energy transition of the Italian building stock. The panel will feature:

Clementina Taliento, Head of Press and Communication – Kyoto Club Sara Zoni, Project Manager, InnovaCoop Gildo Tomassetti, Secretary of the Emilia-Romagna Chapter of Gbc Italia Luciano Sonda, CEO, Isolare srl Valentina Mingo, Head of Ecological Transition, Ance

The moderation of the event – which aims to explore how to finance the necessary investments in the building sector and how to simultaneously make housing more accessible to citizens – will be handled by the editor-in-chief of greenreport, Luca Aterini, while the vice-president of the Kyoto Club, Francesco Ferrante, will coordinate.
