Since then, fuel prices have experienced sharp fluctuations, and vital routes for international trade, such as the Strait of Hormuz, have been cut off. However, even before the outbreak of this conflict, ceramic exports were already facing problems, stemming from last year's tariff battle. Sales of Spanish tiles abroad in the first two months of the year stand at 508.13 million euros, representing a 14.69% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. The data for February alone shows a turnover of 267.55 million euros (-11.28%). The sharpest decline comes precisely from the main client of Tile of Spain, the United States, which at the start of this year has accumulated a 37.46% drop, with sales of 54.35 million euros. A year ago, sales to this country were at a peak, as many buyers took advantage of the months before the imposition of tariffs to try to avoid future surcharges. Finally, in August, a 15% levy on European products came into effect.

The figures will show whether uncertainty has harmed the purchase of construction materials, beyond the war zone itself, and whether Castellón ceramics have been able to take advantage of the drop in production of other competitors, due to the lack of energy supply, such as natural gas in India.
